Open up Kashmir, Pakistan urges
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has offered to open the Line of Control (LoC) dividing Kashmir to help families find loved ones after the earthquake.
"We will allow any amount of people coming across... to meet relatives and assist with reconstruction," he said. He was speaking in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Musharraf says nation’s response to quake is heartening

MUZAFFARABAD: President Gen. Pervez Musharraf has lauded that Pakistani’ nations marvelous response to the earthquake is heartening and for that he thanked the nation.

He was speaking to a press conference here with regard to the post quake crisis management efforts.

He assured to provided every possible assistance for relief aid by Kashmiri brethren from other side of the Line of Control (LoC).

He said that he had allowed Pakistani cellular companies to provide mobile phone services to the people of Azad Kashmir, so that Kashmiris from both sides of the LoC could contact with each other with regard to the relief work for the quake survivors.

President Musharraf launches fresh appeal for global help

ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf Tuesday made a fresh call on the world community to help his quake-devastated country in the "most difficult" task of reconstruction and rehabilitation.

In a nationwide broadcast, Musharraf spelled out plans to rehabilitate children who have become orphans, women who have become widows and mountain dwellers who lost their homes and businesses.

While expressing gratitude for the donations Pakistan has received from 32 countries, he said: "I think the amount (needed) is going to far exceed this and is going to be beyond the reach of Pakistan government.

Fresh tremors in Muzaffarabad, Mansehra, Abbottabad

MUZAFFARABAD: Fresh tremors were felt in Muzaffarabad, Mansehra, Abbottabad and adjoining areas on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to Geo TV, intensity of the jolts was 4.1 on the Richter scale which spread panic among the people.

Second biggest aftershock rattles quake zone

Pakistan’s go-ahead awaited: India

HELD SRINAGAR: The Indian Army in held Kashmir will use mules and helicopters to ensure planned relief camps for earthquake survivors from Azad Kashmir are operational by Tuesday, an army spokesman said.

Despite damaged roads and bridges, the camps at three points along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir will be ready in time should the Pakistani government give the go-ahead for the plan, said army spokesman Vijay Batra. On Saturday, the Indian government said it had approached Pakistan with a proposal to open three centres along the LoC and was awaiting a response.
