Ever wait in line at a grocery store waiting to pay for your stuff and happen to cast your gaze over the magazine rack? Notice how all the models on the covers have perfect skin and no blemishes at all? Well, you're about to learn how those pictures look so good, or how to make your own pictures look nearly as good...
Let's start with this image - Notice that there are a few freckles and other things that can be smudged out and generally erased. Follow along and learn how to use each tool...
Now, I like to smooth out the skin to begin and there's a method that I haven't seen used much. The filter for creating nice smooth looking skin is called Paint Daubs.
This is where the only tricky part comes in: You've got to Lasso Select around the face, making sure not to go into the eye areas and staying away from lips and nostrils. A very useful way of doing this making small selections and merging them together:
for something like this, and be sure to feather (Alt + Ctrl + D) about 3-5 pixels. Now it's time to jump into the filter, there's what I've set mine up like.
Note that this will make some of your edges still look a bit hard or harsh, so it's time to select your Blur Tool and go in to blur out and edges, or even harsh looking folds that might still be there, like around the mouth maybe.
Hit the image with your Blur Brush... Soon you should have something like.
Now it's time to select that grill the same way you did with the face, likeEven though they are pretty white, they can look nicer...
Press:
Ctrl + Alt + U
Follow along and set up the same values... This will take out any yellowish and generally make the teeth look whiter and more solid, too.
Once you've done that, you can pretty much call it finished... If you want to. Rule of nature states that green eyes are more seductive, though. If we're trying to sell magazines, let's make them peepers green. Select the iris of the eyes the same way you've been selecting objects thus far, then press, you guessed it: Ctrl + Alt + U
I went with:
Hue = +92
Saturation = +47
Lightness = +5
