    Stop Showing Paste Options Buttons

SUMMARY: Keep buttons from appearing whenever you paste text in a Microsoft Excel 2003 spreadsheet.

When you paste text into a Microsoft Excel 2003 spreadsheet cell (except plain-text from Notepad or other editors), a Paste Options button may be displayed - a square icon next to the cell showing a clipboard and piece of paper. Click this icon and Excel 2003 will show options allowing you to change the formatting of the pasted text. While some may find this convenient in case they want to change pasted text to match the formatting of the original cell, others find this icon annoying. To get rid of the Paste Options button:

    1. Click "Tools" then "Options".
    2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Edit" tab.
    3. Uncheck "Show Paste Options buttons".
    4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
