    Animate Your Text

SUMMARY: Add flash and marquee lights to text in your Microsoft Word 2000 documents.

Looking to make some text in your Microsoft Word 2000 document stand out? Highlight the text with your mouse, then right-click and select "Font". On the multi-tabbed dialog box that follows, select "Text Effects". Now, select an effect for the text and press "OK" when done.

These effects will not print out nor will they show if you convert the document to HTML, but if you just view the document, you can see dancing lights, blinking text, sparkles, and more.

    Fancy Text Effects with WordArt

SUMMARY: Create some eye-catching text in Microsoft Word 2000 for your advertisements or newsletters.

If you need some fancy text, perhaps for a title for a flyer or mail-out, try using Microsoft Word 2000's "WordArt" feature.

Click the "View" menu, select "Toolbars", and check the "WordArt" toolbar if it is not already checked. Click where you would like the fancy text entered. Now, find the "WordArt" toolbar in Word 2000. Click the "A" button on this toolbar. A "WordArt Gallery" dialog box will follow. Select how you would like the text to look and press "OK". Now, an "Edit WordArt Text" dialog box follows. From here, you can change the text font, size, etc., and enter the text that you want displayed. When you are done, press "OK". Afterwards, your desired text, in the format that you chose, will appear in your document. Click and drag the "WordArt" to move it around, if desired.

Add Links to Web Pages in your Files

SUMMARY: Here are two ways to add hyperlinks to webpages inside your Microsoft Word 2000 documents.

Adding links to webpages in your Microsoft Word 2000 documents is easy. Just type in a web address, starting with http://, and Word will automatically convert your link to a hyperlink.

However, would you like to type in some text, such as "Link to my homepage", and have that text displayed in your document, instead of the actual URL? That, too, is simple. Click on the "Insert" button and choose "Hyperlink" (you can also press CONTROL-K). On the "Insert Hyperlink" dialog box that follows, click on the "Text to display" field and enter the text that you would like visible in your document. Then, underneath "Type the file or Web page name", type in the webpage to which you want the hyperlink to link. When you are done, press "OK" to close the dialog box and see your link inserted in your current document.
