Sana Ali was found in an upstairs bedroom by her sister-in-law
Extra police are to patrol the area where a pregnant teenage girl was found stabbed to death.
Sana Ali, 17, was found in an upstairs bedroom of the house in Throstle Grove, Bury, where she had been living with her husband's family.
Det Chief Insp Keith Dillon said the extra officers were reassure the local community and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
Police have described the attack as "very, very violent".
Mrs Ali was taken to hospital by paramedics, but doctors were unable to save her or the baby.
Residents 'shocked'
A post-mortem examination was due to take place on Saturday afternoon.
Detectives have been examining the house but said there was no sign of forced entry and nothing appeared to have been stolen.
Mr Dillon said detectives were keeping an open mind about the motive for her killing but it was being treated as a murder inquiry.
"Until we have more information I would just like to make a general appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
"This is a nice quiet residential area and I realise that it will have been a shock for those living here to realise what has happened," he said.
Mrs Ali lived with her 24-year-old husband, his brother and their parents. Several family members have been interviewed by police who have not made any arrests.
