Jhelum is a town in the North of the Punjab Province in Pakistan. Jhelum lies on the banks of the Jhelum River. The Grand Trunk Road passes through the city. The town has a very long history: Alexander the Great founded a nearby city, Alexandria Boucephalous, named after his horse Bucephalus, who died in a famous battle here, known by Greeks as the Battle of the Hydaspes.
