    Pakistan's Defence Day

    The defence of Pakistan Day is being celebrated today with a commitment to render every sacrifice for the defence and security of the country. On this day in 1965 our valiant armed forces and the entire nation stood united to thwart the nefarious design of the adversary, which had dared cast an evil eye on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our motherland. The day dawned with Quran Khawani in all the principal mosques for the souls of martyrs. Special prayers were offered for the solidarity, prosperity and integrity of the country and liberation of occupied Muslim territories including Kashmir and Palestine wreath laying ceremonies were held at the Mazars and monuments of the recipients of the Nishan-E- Haider. Brigadier Wali Muhammad laid floral wreath at the grave of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, the first recipient of the Nishan E Haider who embraced Shahadat at Tilpatri in 1948. Brigadier Mansoor Ahmed laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha at the Mazar of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, at Tufailabad in Tehsil Arifwala. At the Mazar of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed in Ladian near Gujarat, major general Tahir Habib laid the wreath and offered Fateha. Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed embraced Shahadat in 1965 at Burki, Lahore. At Jehlum Major General Khalid Rabbani laid a wreath at the monument of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed who embraced Shahadat at district Hilli in East Pakistan. In Lahore Major General Raheel Sharif laid wreath at the Mazar of Major Shabbir Sharif who embraced Shahadat while defending the mother land in 1971. At Mehfoozabad, old Pind Malkan Brigadier Arjamand sheen Janjwa laid a wreath at the Mazar of Lance Laik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed who embraced Shahadat at Atari, Wagah border in 1971. At Dhoke Muhammad Hussain near Gujarkhan Brigadier Israr Ahmed Satti laid a wreath at the Mazar of Sarwar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed who embraced Shahdat in 1971. In Karachi, air officer commanding southern Air Command air Marshal Mirza Zafar Hussain laid wreath at the grave of pilot officer, Rashid Minhas Shaheed, Nishan-E-Haider. In a similar ceremony major general Azhar Ali shah laid wreath and offered Fateha at the Mazar of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed who embraced Shahdat at Gultari sector in 1999. Major General Mohsin Kamal laid wreath at the Mazar of Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed who embraced Shahadat while defending the motherland in 1999. Wreath laying ceremony was also held at Azad Kashmir regiment center Manser camp to pay homage to Naik Saif Ali Shaheed, Hilal E Kashmir which is equivalent to Nishan E Haider. In Karachi, a change of guard ceremony was held at Mazar-E-Quaid-Azam where the cadets of PAF academy, Risalpur assumed the guard duties. Chief Guest of the ceremony air officer commanding PAF academy air vice Arshal, Muhammad Hasan laid a wreath on the Mazar and offered Fateha. In Lahore general officer commanding Major General Shaukat Sultan paid a visit to the Mazar of Allama Mohammad Iqbal. He laid the wreath and offered Fateha.
