I remember when I was just a little girl,
So eager to grow up.
All the cars and other cool stuff.
My whole childhood went by in a flash,
I can barely remember when I was ten.
I always thought being older would be so grand,
I would get to do so much more.
In fast it was very stressful,
I remember the day my heart tore.
My mom told me she was moving out,
It took me by surprise.
I still remember that very night,
The night I cried and cried.
My life was changed in just a moment,
But the papers were signed and the house now empty,
How could this be real?
The months passed and still,
I felt something missing from my life.
Me and my sister had lost our mom,
Our dad had lost his wife.
I kept wishing things would go back to normal,
But deep down I knew they never would.
My life was changed forever,
I had to get used to it if I could.
I finally realized life would never be the same,
I started to live normally again.
I realized life was not a game,
Like I thought when I was just ten.
It went fine for awhile,
Then Shawna came into our lives,
My dad and her started dating,
Before we knew it our dad would have a new wife.
How I wish I could be little again,
Life was so much easier back then.
Nothing like the life in your dreams.
Enjoy life while your young,
Cause life is going to get tough,
And you only live once.
