Some people choose drink,
some drugs and some pain,
but escape and release,
are both one and the same.
Whichever you've chosen,
your destination is unclear,
roads with dead ends,
vain journeys and fear.
The path that you're walking,
could well end in tears,
they may not be yours,
and it may be in some years.
But just like a whirlpool,
you'll spin out of control,
addiction will grip you,
and eat away at your soul.
Yes life can be tough,
it can be bitter and cruel,
but don't be life's victim,
be nobody's fool.
Don't hide from your problems,
at least try to make amends,
seek help from a loved one,
from family and friends.
