i shall be explain it first with in islamic point of view,the person who don't care of his promise he is not between us. (said by mohammad peace be upon him)
so during nikkah we only make a promise that i accept her or him and then we follow our that promise to the rest of our life.so it's mean that promise teaches us the basic lesson of islam.generaly if you see the promise make the personality and trust of you in the society.

Life might need commitments, the steps and attitude of a person has to be truth as the real word Promise is. If I promise to do something, but somehow its hard, or impossible to do so, I have had to take care of my words, to fulfill the right aspect of a word, a person's word such as; promise, swear, commitment lead to his/her love and sincerity. Religion also guide us to make our character a perfect example for others to come to right path, path of Mo'mins to be sincere, to be in respect of Allah. Part of reality is I might have promised any of my friend in the morning to call her tonight, but somehow, I could not do so, ashamed on my words? Yes, may be, may be not. It has become reality of this society, which is created by human on the base of selfish ism, greed. I would like to pray, Allah make me a person, who can make promises to fulfill, who can speak truth. Guide me to the path of right people. Allah please let Muslims feel, admire, and realize the the reason to make Promise, as our Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) made. Aameen
