Why do people have to lie?

Have you ever lied? If you your answer is NO, then you probably are lying. Lies small and big are told everywhere by just about everyone.
People lied on their subjects, to their boss to keep them, on their resumes to get jobs, to their wives/husbands to save marriages, to tax authorities to avoid paying taxes, to each other boy friend girl friend and even to their teachers for not doing their homework.
Telling half truths also is lying, (we almost do with our parents and vice versa) and denial or failure to disclose facts are other forms of lying.
Question raises here that why people feel they need to lie.
