  • ~~A tribute to our heroes(1965)~~

    Hi friends ..

6, Setember The Defence Day of Pakistan is of immense significance in our national history. The day is
celebrated every year with due solemnity to pay homage to our Shaheeds and Ghazis who rendered supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland 41 years ago.

And here I just mean to referesh the memories of those 17 days when countless young men laid down their lives for their land, making the nemy sure that this young nation may be poor on resources but is fully able and mature to defend its
    boundaries .

During the midnight between September 5 and September 6,1965 India crossed the Pakistan's border and launched a three-pronged offensive against Lahore,Sialkot and Rajasthan.
The next day, then Pakistan President Ayub Khan addressed the nation and said, "We are at war with India". Pakistanis consider it one of the most memorable and historic speeches by a Pakistan President. "India has dared to go to war with a people whose hearts are filled with the message of Kalama of QURAN that says there is no one like Prophet Mohammed SALLALAH ALEH WASALLAM, the Prophet of Allah". Khan said "We will never tolerate such attacks. Our army has been sent to borders and you too must be ready and form the second line of defence"

It was a special moment in Pakistan's history, A wave of emotion inundated Pakistanis from Karachi to Lahore to East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). People came out in big numbers to participate in rallies in support of the army.Every Pakistani wanted to contribute. The radio became the medium of the masses. Television was accessible only in Lahore. Popular singer Mallika-e-Tarnoom Noor Jehan went to the Lahore television station, requesting them to allow her to sing for the HOMELAND.
This war demonstrated 17 days of courage, strength and sacrifise by people of Pakistan.
The victory achieved by Ordinary People, Junior Officers and Soldiers - The Jawans, who gave their blood to save our homeland.
The world saw that how an Army, Half the size of the offender, gave a greater-in-size army a Memorable Thrashing and the Bharati Forces were screwed off. The Indian General who quoted "I WILL HAVE TWO PEGs OF SCOTCH WHISKY TODAY AT 6-PM AT LAHORE GYMKHANA CLUB" while Indian Army attacked Pakistan, was shown by the Pakistan Military that No ENEMY can even ouch our Motherland.
So Friends let's celebrate defence day with warm hearted wishes for our MOTHERLAND :dua and share memories in this thread.

Re: ~~A tribute to our heroes(1965)~~MAJOR AZIZ BHATI

      Shaheed In Quran:

And say not those who are killed in the path of Allah as dead; but they are alive yes, you are unaware"
      (Surah:Al-Baqara, verse:154)

Sura Aal -'Imraan ( Ayat 169 to 171)
      (3:169) And reckon not those who are killed in Allah's way as dead; nay, they are alive (and) are provided sustenance from their Lord;

(3:170)Rejoicing in what Allah has given them out of His grace and they rejoice for the sake of those who, (being left) behind them, have not yet joined them, that they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve.

(3:171) They rejoice on account of favor from Allah and (His) grace, and that Allah will not waste the reward of the believers.

      MAJOR RAJA AZIZ BHATTI SHAHEED(NISHAN_E_HAIDER)

Aziz Bhatti was born in Hong Kong in 1928. He moved to Pakistan before it became independent in 1947. There he lived in his village " Ladian " district Gujrat. There he enlisted with the newly formed Pakistani Army and was commissioned to the Punjab Regiment in 1950.
His father's name was Master Abdullah Bhatti, and his mother's name was Bibi Amna. He had four brothers, Nazir, Bashir, Sardar and Rashid, and two sisters, Rashida and Tahira. He himself had six children, four boys and two girls, Major Zaffar Javed Bhatti, Dr Zulfiqar Ahmad Bhatti,Rafique Ahmad Bhatti, Iqbal Javed Bhatti and two daughters Riffat Bhatti and Zeenat Bhatti.
Throughout his career he was a brilliant officer and stood out in his class. He did very well at the Academy and was awarded the Sword of Honour(best in his year's batch of 300 officers), and the Norman Medal.

On 6 September 1965, the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 broke out between India and Pakistan. Major Bhatti was posted in the Burki area of Lahore sector, as the company command Major Bhatti chose to move his forward platoon under constant fire from Indian tanks and artillery. He resisted for five days and nights defending a Pakistani outpost on the strategic BRB canal. On 11 September, he was reorganzing his company and directing the gunners to shell the enemy positions. In order to watch every move of the enemy, he had to place himself in an elevated position, where he was exposed to enemy fire. He led his men from the front under constant attack from Indian batteries. Although he countered every Indian offensive in his area, he was hit by an enemy tank shell. He died instananeously.
A day before his martydom, the commanding officer had sent to him word that since he had been fighting untiring for the last six days, he should take a little rest and that another officer was being sent to replace him. Major Aziz, who was filled with the spirit of Jihad replied, "Do not recall me. I don't want to go back. I will shed the last drop of my blood
in the defence of my dear homeland". He is burried at his village "Ladian" district Gujrat. Each year, Major Bhatti is honoured in Pakistan on the Defense Day. Bhatti was awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, the nation's highest award for gallantry for the exemplery courage he displayed till his SHAHADAT. His name has since become synonomyous in Pakistan with bravery.
