you wipe away the tears and kiss away the pain
you were also fun, remember how we played in the rain
the mother you are outshines the rest
every other mother is only second best
I remember thinking back when I was young
before my adult life had begun
if I could be a mother just as you are
I would learn unconditional love the most important virtue by far
as I turn out hte lights and climb into bed
I lay in the dark and pray inside my head
"dear lord please bless me with the dignity and grace from my mother who always had a smile on her face"
as time goes by and the road comes to an end
I will be there holding your hand
I whisper softly to you and say
"thank you for teaching me how to become the mother iI am today"
