Canaanite cores and blades were made from high quality flint or chert. The material is identified by Rosen (1997) as a fine grained Eocene flint. He reports that the majority of Canaanite blades that have been found in the southern Levant are made of this material. The colors range from chocolate, brown, to sometimes banded flint.
