Does this sound familiar?
It's Monday morning. You get up early to make the children breakfast, get them ready for school, and get ready yourself while your spouse rushes out of the house for work.
You rush to drop your children off at school or the babysitter's and then rush to work, stopping to grab a bagel and coffee which you wolf down after getting to your desk.
The rest of the day goes downhill from there: meetings, vending machine lunch, teleconference, meetings, then home. Once there, it's dinner, kids' homework, kids to bed, then an hour of television before you fall into bed.
This is an average work day. It leaves little time to worry about exercise or your own nutrition. You need a lifestyle makeover. To do that, you need to know three essentials before you start:
Establish a specific goal, write it down and let other know about your goal. For example, I will lose X number of pounds. Be reasonable with the amount of time needed to lose this amount of weight. Don't expect to lose 20 pounds in one week.
Decide what will be your motivation factor. Your family/friends? A lifestyle makeover will involve everyone around you. Your family will play a key role in you accomplishing your goal and will probably need to change their habits, as well.
More often than not, if you feel you need to change your lifestyle, then other members of your family are sharing that lifestyle.
Pick your support network. Family and friends are good places to start and central to you reaching your goal.
