Dubai-based Glosante to expand into 25 countries, create jobs

Dubai: Travel healthcare provider Glosante has planned to open more than 50 clinics in 25 countries including India and Pakistan by the end of next year, chief executive officer Raman Sodhi told Khaleej Times in an interview.

Foraying into the niche space of preventive and travel healthcare, Glosante offers global travellers a one-stop-shop for mandatory and general medical services including vaccinations, travel advisory and health screening.

“This is the first time a travel healthcare entity which offers multiple healthcare services related to travel is being offered in the Middle East,” Sodhi claimed.

He said that travel healthcare business has great potential for growth citing examples that 3.3 billion people travelled globally in 2014 and Dubai International Airport also ranked the world’s busiest airport last year as it handled 70.5 million passengers.

The chief executive mentioned that preventive healthcare is very small percentage of overall global healthcare market of $6.5 trillion. It’s less than three per cent, or $190 billion, of the total healthcare market, he said, adding that it’s growing very fast and expected to reach 10 per cent soon.

“Our objective is to provide a safe, secured, affordable, and timely option to the healthcare requirements for travellers not only in the UAE but also the world over. Glosante’s diverse services span preventive checkups, health maintenance programmes and general healthcare,” he explained.

Established in November 2014, the Dubai-headquartered Glosante plans to extend its reach and launch 52 centres in Jordan, Egypt, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Nigeria and Algeria by the end of 2016. Glosante will invest some $100 million in the expansion of its branch network, he informed.

“In the UAE, we are planning total four clinics this year and may be five to six more next year. In Pakistan, three centres — Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar — will be operational with local partners in the first half of this year,” he said.

Talking about the company’s expansion plan in India, he said four clinics in Mumbai and three in New Delhi are expected to be operational this year. In addition, the company is planning two specialists’ hospitals in Mumbai, he added. He said that there is no plan for any hospital in the UAE at the moment.

He mentioned that the feedback since the establishment of the first clinic more than four months ago is very positive as a lot of people like it. The first clinic of Glosante is strategically located next to VFS Global’s visa office in Dubai’s Wafi Mall.

Glosante’s healthcare facilities deploy latest healthcare technologies. They are designed to offer high quality care and are equipped to meet the growing healthcare needs of the society.

Sodhi mentioned that the expansion of Glosante will also throw open job opportunities in respective local markets and the company aims to directly employ approximately 1,500 people by the end of 2016 across all centres.

He advised travellers to go for check-up four to five days before the travel date. Glosante offers multiple types of packages that also include post-travel advice by its doctors, he added.

“Our objective is different than traditional healthcare providers as we want to protect people before they travel and keep them healthy during their foreign visit either it’s for business or leisure,” he explained.

He said the company’s core services include medical services to visa applicants, travel clinics, Hajj, Umrah and elective vaccination, preventive healthcare and general healthcare.

Talking about preventive healthcare, he said Glosante provides a wide range of corporate health management services designed to promote employee health, wellbeing and productivity. Programmes can be customised based on the needs of the individuals and client organisations, he added.

Glosante healthcare centres undertake medical examinations and provide certifications for visa applicants. The company’s medical procedures including necessary tests and vaccinations confirming to the standards and conditions prescribed by the respective embassies and missions.

The company’s travel health service in the clinics include travel consultation and advice; health screening, review of any existing medical conditions; identifying potential medical hazards that may arise during travel; types of vaccinations that may be required; travel medications, travel medical kits and fitness certificates.
