    Definition:
    Oily skin is characterized by an over-abundant secretion of the sebaceous gland. In this type of skin, the oil producing sebaceous glands are overactive and produce more oil than is needed. The oil oozes and gives the skin a greasy shine. The pores are enlarged and the skin has a coarse look.
    Characteristics:
    Some of the common characteristics of oily skin are:
    · Large visible pores
    · Frequent acne (black heads and white heads)
    · Visible shine, especially mid-day
    · look shiny and feel greasy to the touch
    Causes:
    Some of the major factors responsible for an oily skin are:
    · eating fatty, greasy fried foods and lots of sugar
    · Oily skin could be hereditary
    · Stress can also cause oily skin
    · Disturbed hormonal level in the body
    · deficiency of certain vitamins like vitamin B2 and vitamin B5 causes oily skin
    · humidity and hot weather
    · low quality or oil based cosmetics

    What to avoid:-
    There are several foods you should avoid if you want to reduce the appearance of oily skin. Reduce the amount of fat in your diet.Do not drink soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. Avoid sugar, chocolate, and junk food. Avoid caffeine-based drinks, such as sodas, energy drinks and coffees. You should also minimize your intake of animal and dairy fats, as the unhealthy fats can lead to excess oil production.
    What to have:-
    some dietary changes may affect your body's oil production. Drinking six to eight glasses of water each day can help lessen the oily appearance of your skin. Eat low fat foods, protein-rich foods, whole grains, fresh fruits and green vegetables. Replace unhealthy fats in your diet with healthy fats found in foods like nuts, seeds, avocados, and lean poultry and other meats. Herbal tea is another alternative treatment that works to reduce oily skin.
    How to take care:
    Through natural products:-
    A weekly face mask can help to revive oily skin. Use one that is clay or mud-based as these materials help to draw out and absorb the oil in your skin.Aloevera gel can be used to moisturize any skin type.It is great for acne and pimple prone skin.
    The tea steam will open the pores and dry out excess oil without completely drying the skin. Try this home remedy for oily skin a couple times a week to treat oily skin.
    Egg yolk is the easiest preparation to remove oily shine from the surface of the skin.
    Lemons are well-known for their antioxidant properties. Combine equal parts of lemon juice and water and apply it all over the face.Rinse with cold water,after a minute or two.
    What Products to use:-
    Treat open pores with a bacteria killing facial wash.Try a good quality light cleansing lotion.Avoid alcohol based cleansers. Use spf 15 sunblock when needed. Use water based moisturizers. Always wear an oil free foundation. It is lighter and will not cause your pores to clog.
