  • Air Disaster

    Before disaster:
27 March 1977 was the day when two jumbo jet air crafts i.e PanAm and KLM (royal Dutch airline) collided on the runway with each other at Tenerife island (near Spain) while they were preparing for taking off, resulting 583 people died (out off 630) on board. It was the biggest air disaster after 9/11 air crash incident in new york. The above picture was taken by a crew member of KLM just 45 minutes before air crash (which was found later in wreckage).

In the picture, the KLM Boeing 747 involved in the accident can be seen in the foreground, while the Pan Am 747 involved can be seen in the background.

    After Disaster
The aircrafts collided on the runway while departing Tenerife as the KLM Boeing 747's Captain initiated a takeoff without permission of ATC (Air traffic Control) while the Pan American aircraft was using the the same runway. Unluckily both senior pilots could not be able to see each other's air crafts due to heavy fog on that day and finally resulted in a horrible collision.
