    Wake-up call
    #1
Behind the soothing or stimulating intellectual posers and slogans lurks a demon with a war cry as his melody and half-truths and lies his allies. He will entice the brilliant and sensetive-the intellectuals and poets alike, with his hyponotic words and melodies. The others have always been easy to convert to the cause. When you wake up ultimately and find yourself in the nightmarish realty that you have helped to create, there will be no escape, even if you tried. The demon will have usurped everything by then.If you try to redeem yourself by raising your voices, you too will have to share the fate of the dispossessed now whom you, unwittingly, made dispossessed by going silently with the demon, saying "yes"to his mesmeric but diabolic discourses, giving respectability to hatred, mistrust and ultimately to the murder. He philosophizes and bring forth the convoluted logic based on half-truths to initiate the intellectual into the world of paranoia. He cooes lullabies of mistrust to take the sensitives into his nightmarish world. He speaks the language of religion-each to his own, sings the songs of past glories and promises utopian futures if your present can be mortgaged to him.He has only one purpose-TO DISPOSSESS YOU OF YOUR HUMANITY.He plays on your emotions by blowing out of proportion your real or imagined grievances. He ,very soothingly, prepares you,by reaping seeds of mistrust and hatred in you,to a state of mind where hatred is the only alternative and murder becomes necessity to teach lessons to the OTHER. He is an active proselytizer with various tools of the trade to recruit you to his demonic cause. He is seemingly a harbinger of hope and new dreams but is,in fact,a shaman, giving out the poisons of false hopes and nightmares.Hitler,Reich,Final solution, concentration camps....That is where the road to intolerance, hatred and mistrust finally ends.It has been wisely said that those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it. Come out of the spell of the demon-whether the demon is wearing the mask of a hindu, muslim, christian or sikh fundamentalist. Before it is too late to stop that demon, before civilization is sold cheap by this evil force. Now join forces together-all intelligent and sensitive Hindus,Muslims, christian, sikhs and others alike. Enlarge your circle by sending it to all your nears and dears.Actively speak against this demon of hatred among your family memeber,at your places of worship,at yoyr workplace and at your social getogethers.Let this pledge become a part of your daily prayers. ---------Brijinder"Sagar"----------- brijinder11@yahoo.co.nz

        Re: Wake-up call

Thanks for your candid views,my friend.I am no ivory-tower scholar but remain in touch with the ground realities.I am a sikh by birth and I know what my fellow men did in the name of getting justice during the sad days of 1980s n 90s.I think all the advocates -passive or vocal-for taking up arms in all the religions and other causes are same everywhere.Their reasonings are same.Everyday we find injustice in the world-in the family,in our neighborhood,in our city,in our country,in world,in our own religious social systems. Will we start killing everyone just because of that?I know that hatred just blunts our sensebilties and also makes our sense of justice quite tribal. This is evident in all groups and philosophies based on hatred and mistrust.Injustice,no matter how big,can not make the killings of innocent people and that too intentionally, legtimate. No matter if those are done in the name of Islam,Sikhism or any religion or done in the name of white supermacty(Klu Klux Klan),or in the name of false utopias as was done in china,Russia or by communist kangroo courts in the tribal areas of india.
I am reproducing a very fine article I came across which makes a very thought-provoking read.
A German's Point of View on Fanatacism

Here is something that was written in a German newspaper. I think you may find this view quite interesting as did I.

        A little food for thought.
A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.'Very few people were true Nazis' he said, 'but manyenjoyed the return of German pride, and many morewere too busy to care. I was one of those who justthought the Nazis were a bunch of fools.

So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we hadlost control, and the end of the world had come. Myfamily lost everything. I ended up in a concentrationcamp and the Allies destroyed my factories.'

We are told again and again by 'experts' and talkingheads' that Islam is the religion of peace, and thatthe vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace.I also believe it to be so.Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it isentirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meantto take us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is Islam has been hijacked by these fanatics.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting warsworldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter people or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is
the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims. The hard quantifiable fact is that the 'peaceful majority', the 'silent majority', is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant by these fanatics.

China 's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people. The peaceful majority was irrelevant by these fanatics.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 14 million Chinese civilians;most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. The peaceful majority was made irrelevant by these fanatics.

And, who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?The peaceful majority was made irrelevant by these fanatics.

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.

Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese,Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghanis, Iraqis,Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, andmany others have died because the peaceful majoritydid not speak up until it was too late.

As for us who watch it all unfold; we must payattention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

It is a serious heart-felt request from a german who saw the fanatics and criminals taking control of germany under Hitler JUST because of the silent majority. And we all had to take the blame for the crimes of those few and justifiably too.
My muslim friends, please do not let these fanatics with a narrow and intolerant world-view hijack your religion.Speak before it is too late....
It also a serious request to all others-Hindus,jews,sikhs,christians alike- to speak against such intolerant people and groups with in their own communities and also strengthen the hands of peace-loving muslim brethren by supporting them in their efforts.Let Klu Klux Klans,Vishv Hindu parishads or similar hate spitting organisations in any religions not flourish.
This can only be made possible by SPEAKING UP AGAINST THEM,MY FRIENDS.

                Re: Wake-up call

Thanks for the reply.I request you to visit the following link to view the kind of books that i have read and which have become my inner milestones:
                http://www.shelfari.com/brijinder/shelf
You will see that I love a writer,Chomsky,a jew,M.I.T professor of world reknown who is not only openly critical of the american policies but is particularly targets Bush for all what is wrong with the world today. His being Jew does not stop him criticizing Israel for its persecution of Palestians. My friend,I have read my history with open eyes and do not carry my prejudices and my conditionings while studying anything. My being Sikh will not stop me to have courage to criticize if I find something wrong.I did that during the time of sikh fundamentalism and terrorism.
I wrote an article at the time of babri masjid demolition which was openly and harshly critical of hindu militancy. Many of my Hindu friends openly said that it was the saddest day in their lives. It must be said in the favour of India that if we have narrow minded and hate filled Hindus,Muslims and sikhs,we also have people with conscience who openly come out against all this which goes in the name of their own religions.
The best films,Like Parzania,Final Solution could only be made in india. Those were made by courageous Hindus and openly blamed Modi for inciting riots.
I do not know how you formed the opinion about myself that I do not see the whole picture.
I will request you also that please do not let your conditioning and prejudices dictate your study and search. That is the easiest way,my friend.Just because Israel is being wrong to Palestine,we should not lose our eyes what happened in world war 2 in Germany.Perhaps you have not read german history really.Follow the rise and fall of hitler and you will see what happens when we let leaders like Hitler take control of our country and our conscience. For god sake, stop thinking in such paranoid terms like american propaganda or jewish propaganda. This is not the way to a mature world-view,my friend.Yes!it is the easiest one though.
If everone thinks that it is okay to kill another if we find the injustice done, then it will take us to middle ages chaos. It will also justify what the shite supermacist organisations like Klu Klux klan,Aryan brotherhood say,it will the give legtimacy to every terrorist outfit,it may be Hindu parishad,Khalsa brigade or numerous Islamic outfits propsoing these solutions. Will it be a world where you would like your children to live?
I cry when i see what is happening there in the name of democracy(being done by US)and also what is happening there in the name of religion(killing between Shia and sunni).Kashmir problem occupies the same place in heart. To me,two wrongs do not make one right.I hope I made myself clear and also hope that i did not offend you anyway.
                Regards
                Brijinder

                  Re: Wake-up call

I have once read "without tolerance, our world turns into hell" so in my view, if we learn to tolerate one another,we can build a more peaceful society/world. you see we can't change people, we can't make them think the way we think but we can tolerate them.

                  @Religion Fundamentalists

I liked your point when you said we shouldn't allow our religion to be hijacked. And I think it is only possible if we know well our religion, the best we know it, the best we can safeguard it from "hijackers".

and also when it comes to religions, to the best of my knowledge no religion teaches hatred or taking lives of innocent people, so if we leave other differences aside and let's only practice this common point between different religions, we could achieve alot in terms of "peace".

                    Re: Wake-up call

I am quoting the text of Dr. Zakir Naik who is Orator on Islam and Comparative Religions. Hope reading this will make your ideas more clearer

                    MUSLIMS ARE FUNDAMENTALISTS AND TERRORISTS

                    Question:

Why are most of the Muslims fundamentalists and terrorists?

A fundamentalist is a person who follows and adheres to the fundamentals of the doctrine or theory he is following. For a person to be a good doctor, he should know, follow, and practise the fundamentals of medicine. In other words, he should be a fundamentalist in the field of medicine. For a person to be a good mathematician, he should know, follow and practise the fundamentals of mathematics. He should be a fundamentalist in the field of mathematics. For a person to be a good scientist, he should know, follow and practise the fundamentals of science. He should be a fundamentalist in the field of science.

One cannot paint all fundamentalists with the same brush. One cannot categorize all fundamentalists as either good or bad. Such a categorization of any fund amentalist will depend upon the field or activity in which he is a fundamentalist. A fundamentalist robber or thief causes harm to society and is therefore undesirable. A fundamentalist doctor, on the other hand, benefits society and earns much respect.

                    3. I am proud to be a Muslim fundamentalist

I am a fundamentalist Muslim who, by the grace of Allah, knows, follows and strives to practise the fundamentals of Islam. A true Muslim does not shy away from being a fundamentalist. I am proud to be a fundamentalist Muslim because, I know that the fundamentals of Islam are beneficial to humanity and the whole world. There is not a single fundamental of Islam that causes harm or is against the interests of the human race as a whole. Many people harbour misconceptions about Islam and consider several teachings of Islam to be unfair or improper. This is due to insufficient and incorrect knowledge of Islam. If one critically analyzes the teachings of Islam with an open mind, one cannot escape the fact that Islam is full of benefits both at the individual and collective levels.

                    5. Every Muslim should be a terrorist
                    7. Islam means peace WAS ISLAM SPREAD BY THE SWORD?

                    Question:

How can Islam be called the religion of peace when it was spread by the sword?
                    Answer:

It is a common complaint among some non-Muslims that Islam would not have millions of adherents all over the world, if it had not been spread by the use of force. The following points will make it clear, that far from being spread by the sword, it was the inherent force of truth, reason and logic that was responsible for the rapid spread of Islam.

                    1. Islam means peace.
                    2. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace.

Each and every human being in this world is not in favour of maintaining peace and harmony. There are many, who would disrupt it for their own vested interests. Sometimes force has to be used to maintain peace. It is precisely for this reason that we have the police who use force against criminals and anti-social elements to maintain peace in the country. Islam promotes peace. At the same time, Islam exhorts it followers to fight where there is oppression. The fight against oppression may, at times, require the use of force. In Islam force can only be used to promote peace and justice.

                    4. Muslims ruled Spain for 800 years.

Muslims ruled Spain for about 800 years. The Muslims in Spain never used the sword to force the people to convert. Later the Christian Crusaders came to Spain and wiped out the Muslims. There was not a single Muslim in Spain who could openly give the adhan, that is the call for prayers.

                    5. 14 million Arabs are Coptic Christians.

Muslims were the lords of Arabia for 1400 years. For a few years the British ruled, and for a few years the French ruled. Overall, the Muslims ruled Arabia for 1400 years. Yet today, there are 14 million Arabs who are Coptic Christians i.e. Christians since generations. If the Muslims had used the sword there would not have been a single Arab who would have remained a Christian.

                    6. More than 80% non-Muslims in India.

The Muslims ruled India for about a thousand years. If they wanted, they had the power of converting each and every non-Muslim of India to Islam. Today more than 80% of the population of India are non-Muslims. All these non-Muslim Indians are bearing witness today that Islam was not spread by the sword.

                    7. Indonesia and Malaysia. 8. East Coast of Africa. 9. Thomas Carlyle.
                    10. No compulsion in religion
                    11. Sword of the Intellect.

My friend,i am amazed that you have not really got what i wanted to convey.I never ever raised a point that muslims per se are terrorist.Rather the opposite of that. But if you still want to be in the groove that all is well with what is being done in the name of religion then I have no further point to take up with you.It was just a call to the sensetive people to raise the voice against the hijackers of the religion.I reproduce one article by karan Thapar where he has raised the same issue within Hindus.I hope it will make clear what i wanted to convey.:

This article by Karan Thapar highlights the problem in India, currently in Orissa, and the need for everyone to speak out.

We must voice our opinions like Karan Thapar, co-opting the bulk of our Hindu brethren.

                      Who's the real Hindu?

All those people whom are being called Peace Loving majority are the common men of every nation and from all your research and historic reviews you must have observed that the so called peace loving common man is far more busy sustaining a daily simple life and still further busy in putting bread in his familys mouth than to speak out or to think about the hate and all these fanatics
if you will observe you will find that the common peace loving majority is following only what their for fathers have given them people don't think out of their own families and lives
..this is what is happening to the common peace loving majority...people are just hoping and waiting for something to happend
now lets talk about the not so common peace loving minority...the people of the so called media....all those who have enough to support 10 more families than their own and the religious extriemists who think they own their religion...all these people are far to busy to create their place in the society than to think about the troubles they are creating...and basically only these people have the power to make a difference and its their responsibility as well ...
