Good Preparation is Half the Shave

Step 1.
Experts recommend shaving after your shower or prepare a small, wet, hot towel and apply to the face for one minute. The heat and moisture will prime skin and soften hair for a closer shave.

Step 2. - only for coarse and tough beards
Run an Alum Block under warm water. Rub lightly against the skin in an upward motion to lift the hair away from the face and allow for a closer shave.

Step 3.
For the ideal shave a dab of Shave Cream or Soap is all you need. e-Shave recommends running the shave brush under warm water, then dipping it lightly into your shave cream tub, or whisking the brush over the soap surface. With your brush, lather the shave soap or cream onto skin in an upward motion to keep hair raised and away from the skin. .

Cream generates a rich lather. Should you not have a shaving brush, use your fingers for now. Lather up the cream onto your skin to lift the hair away from the face. The cream will coat your skin and hair to protect it from the contact of the blade and allow for the razor to glide on easily. With your Shave Soap just whisk soap with a brush to create a fluffy foam and lather up onto skin.

Step 4.
Shave with the grain using a sharp blade to prevent ingrown hair, bumps, rashes and razor burn. Glide the razor over prepared skin in the direction of hair growth.

For stubborn hair, reapply shave cream and repeat shaving in a rapid sideways motion. Little strokes prevent skin irritation.

Around the neck area where the hair grows in different directions, run your fingers along your neck to feel and follow the pattern. Note that the hair from the chin to the Adam's apple is part of the face and grows in the same direction. Whereas from the Adam's apple down, it is part of the chest and grows in a different direction. Following that pattern may feel odd at first but you'll quickly get the gist of it.

Step 5.
Rinse face with cold water after shaving. Address any nicks by running warm water over the Alum Block stone and then apply to affected area to instantly stop bleeding.

Step 6.
Cool the Alum Block with cold water and gently rub it against the skin. It acts as an after shave astringent to cleanse the skin and close the pores..

Step 7.
For a complete finish, apply After Shave Soother to newly shaved, cleansed skin. It soothes, nourishes,moisturizes and leaves skin soft and comfortable.
