What's the range of Karzai's influence in Afghanistan?
This is with reference to the President's address to the editors on Monday aimed at updating their knowledge on what's going on in the country. Well, as regards the list of the most wanted staff of Al-Qaeda and Taliban, I agree with the President that it was something like a state secret to be shared by the heads of the states rather than making it public.
So the act committed by the Afghanistan authorities raise here two questions: first, was Hamid Karzai not aware of the list when it was made public by his defence ministry? Second, was it done deliberately? Because I watched his [Karzai] interview on Khyber TV channel taken by Hassan Khan while his recent visit to Pakistan. Khan posed some stinging questions which were answered in an cordial way though he [President] did not disclose even a single name of the accused mentioned in the list which was handed over to our President.
Lastly, I had also read in the national press about the power and influence of Karzai that is upto Kabul only, and maybe to his living room, that is why his defence and interior ministries are playing such a nonsense game in order to malign Pakistan's image.
