    One of the two new polar bears at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium swims underwater on Thursday, Nov. 17, above people in an observation tunnel at a new polar exhibit which is scheduled to open to the public on Wednesday, Nov. 22. The zoo unveiled the $14 million exhibit for the animals that includes a waterfall, a freshwater stream and a 150,000-gallon pool chilled to between 50 and 55 degrees. It also features a yard where they can play or nap.

Barbera, a co-founder of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon company that created memorable characters like the Flintstones and Scooby-Doo, died on December 19, 2006 at age 95, Warner Bros. film studio said in a statement.

            A Kashmiri earthquake survivor stands in his makeshift tent near the devastated village of Pieer Chanasi, some 25km (16 miles) east of Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir on December 22. Widespread rain, snow and thunder showers may occur during the next couple of days, a Pakistan Meteorological Department official said on Thursday.

                    Atrocities
                    A monk from Japan, prays at Fengman Labor Memorial in Jilin Province to express his sorrow for the Chinese victims of the atrocities committed by the Japanese army during the invasion of China.

                    The memorial is on the site where more than 10,000 laborers killed by Japanese invaders were buried.
